Rooms to Let - Robin Homestay and sight seeing at Pulau Ketam
Robin Homestay is located in a 2 storey terrace house in Jalan Lebuh Durian, Klang. There are 2 rooms to LeT for short stay. The rooms are fully furnished and air-conditioned. Just suitable business trip, Vacation, Holiday stay, Visit Relatives, Convocation and attending seminars. It is much, much cheaper than staying in a HoteL.
Mr Yang an ex-banker stays with his wife here. Robin Homestay is managed by Robin Yang who is a banker at a local Bank. He is the son of Mr Yang. The 2 rooms upstairs are available for short term rental. The rental is RM50 per room per day ie 2Days 1 Night.
From Robin Homestay, you can drive 15 mins to the Port Klang Jetty from where you can take a Ferry to Pulau Ketam or Crab Island. There are actually 2 island seperated by mangrove swamp, namely Pulau Ketam and Sungai Lima. The island is surrounded by mud. Mangrove swamps are beneficial to nature as they prevent erosions, act as bio-filters, spawning ground for fish and shell-fish. They also provide santuary for Migratory birds.

The settlement were started by crab catchers in the 1800s. Crab catching activities were very active back then. Hence, Pulau Ketam or Crab Island was coined. The houses were built on stilts, originally built as Kongsi Houses. About 95% are Chinese comprising of Hokkiens, Teo Chew and some Hainanese. They are Fisherman, Seafood Restaurant Owners, Marine Seafood Traders and Floating Fish Farming operators. Fresh Seafood Cruisine can be enjoyed at the many restaurants. Restaurant Kuai Lok Hian is a good try.
The residents travel around by bicycle, motorcycle and motorised bicycle. But watch out for them as there are no side railings to separate you from the sea and the wooden plank roads. Activities besides enjoying fresh seafood includes jungle tracking, Fishing, bird watch and monkey watch. The adventurous can stay over night at the Floating Fish Farm.
